On Tuesday, March 19th, Kim Crawford’s band at the time she passed away - 10Ahead - will be doing our last Tribute show for Kim at Eldorado’s. We’ve done several since her passing, including last year’s Comfest. 10AHEAD will be onstage at 8 pm.
Our first Celebration of Life show for Kim in February of 2023 was a huge success. We were able to pay some of Kim’s debts, and buy a gravestone for Kim and her mother. Kim’s ashes are buried alongside her mother.
Needless to say, the band was heartbroken when Kim passed. We had finally found the right combination of players for Kim’s songs. We felt people should hear Kim’s last songs, on live and on CD.
At the time of her passing, Kim and her band 10Ahead (Aaron Pauley on guitar, Billy Zenn on bass, and myself, Jim Johnson on drums) were working on an album of Kim’s songs. We were able to get five basic tracks done. With the help of Jack Burgess on keyboards and Donna Mogavero singing Kim’s lyrics, we were able to finish the five songs.
We decided to put them on a CD as a tribute to Kim. We will have CD’s for sale, as long as they last, for only $5. Donna did a fantastic job singing with us, and we know Kim would love Donna’s renditions of her songs.
This will be our final show. A year has gone by since Kim’s passing, and we think Kim would be proud of what we’ve done. We also know Kim would want us to carry on with our other projects. All of us are in other bands, and we know it’s time to move on. We loved Kim, and Kim’s spirit will always be with us. She was a bandmate, but she was also an inspiration to us.
Rest In Peace, Kim. We will love you forever.
