BIG $ (Pencil Storm Browns Beat Writer)
Riding high as Julian fully executed my 6.5 tease last week to down the horns, so lets fire some live bullets:
I like week 2.5 in CFB to be a show me Saturday with big covers and overs as teams take advantage of style points
Rocco B fires away in Ames and carries a hawkeye match up to a over 41.5.
Lagway's Gators vs. the upstart USF Bulls , over 58.5
UNLV upends Nico's Ucla Bruind - go rebels moneyline +114
Nebraska rolls over Akron -33.5.
As for the NFL, not ready to dig into single game picks, but here are my futures:
Matthew Golden , Packers - offensive rookie of the year + 1800
I expect the 49ers to bounce back- over 10.5 wins +105
as always, best of luck, fade or tail.

I don't know why you want my thoughts.... I was as wrong as you can be last week. Here's more nonsense from me.
San Diego State +1.5 at Washington State. My Cougs nearly lost to Idaho and only scored 13 points. It's going to be a long year on the Palouse I'm afraid. No way they should be favored.
Fresno State +2.5 at Oregon State... Same thing here. The Beavers were embarrassed by a bad Cal team last week. You could throw SDSU and Fresno in a little parlay and really cash in.
Wisconsin -28.5 vs Middle Tennessee... I realize the Badgers struggled on offense last week vs Miami (O), but the Blue Raiders lost at home by 20 to Austin Peay. I like Wisconsin to cover this number.
Arkansas State +23.5 vs Arkansas.... Neutral site in Little Rock. The Razorbacks looked like garbage last week for stretches against Alabama A&M. I realize they ended up winning 52-7, but it took them awhile to get going against a really poor FCS squad. Are the Red Wolves great? Probably not, but this game is everything to them. On a neutral I think they can cover this number.
UCLA at UNLV... The Bruins are the worst team in the Big Ten and that includes Purdue. The Rebels have no defense. I like over 55.5.
NFL week one moneyline specials...
Seattle, Cleveland, Chicago.

I had a very successful week one despite missing on my parlay. I nailed both Utah and TCU rolling so my free $$ at Bet 365 is up to respectful levels heading into the rest of football season. But here’s the thing…I think there is value in early season college games. Why would anyone think old ass Bill Belichick could get SEVENTY NEW PLAYERS together for week one? Oh, the media told us he is a genius for 6 months. Easy $$$$.
Where was I? Oh yeah.. Betting NFL is insanely hard and I usually stay away from it. I don’t see much I like this week but i’ll parlay on Michigan and UCLA both to lose at +238. Tough environment for UM to break in a freshman QB and UCLA flat out blows.
And what the hell, I’ll take the Brownies +5.5 vs the Bengals but I’m not happy about it.

I was 0-3 last weekend so don’t assume my predictions are locks.
Michigan didn’t cover last week, but they looked ok against a sup-par opponent, while OSU surprised none of my Columbus friends but cost me a few bucks with a victory over Texas last week. They haven’t released the odds against Grambling State as I write this (Thursday morning) but the spread will be large and the Buckeyes will likely cover. Meanwhile, the Wolverines are +5.5 against Oklahoma and this could be a fun game. I won’t be able to watch it, but I’ve got UM, of course.
What I really love is the NFL!
I like the Eagles over the Cowboys on Thursday night because I hate the Cowboys and always have. I’ll take Jalen with a TD parlayed with a lesser spread of -6 at +135 and we’ll see what happens.
Gotta like the Commanders over the lowly Giants at -6 don’t ya? I mean, the Giants were supposed to be better every year for the last decade and Washington finished really strong last year.
But the BIG question on everyone’s mind is: what are the Lions going to do this year? They over-achieved in 2023, shit the bed in round 1 last year, and here we are with a new DC. Our rivals and my second-by-a-hair most hated team (well, maybe 3rd now that Rogers is playing for the Steelers) the Packers are hosting them at Lambeau and the cats are +2.5. Of course I’ll take the lions, but who knows what’s coming.
Finally… Steelers -3 at NYJ? Aaron Rogers playing his previous team? Ugh. Steelers should kill them, but I can’t stand to bet on him so I’ll sit it out.

Texas -36.5 vs. San Jose State
Big believer in hyped up teams looking to make a statement after a tough loss. Texas has to get their star QB back in the Heisman race to avoid the Farce Manning allegations. And Jeff Garcia ain't showing up for San Jose State. Texas is gonna look to roll to get their season back on track, and the Spartans should offer little resistance.
LaNorris Sellers - To Win Heisman (+1000)
Speaking of the Heisman race, I strongly urge you to consider watching South Carolina play. Not something I thought I'd ever say, especially post Spurrier. LaNorris Sellers is just one of those fun guys to watch. Think a Cam Newton that can really pass, or a Vince Young that can really pass, or maybe even a J.J. McCarthy that can really pass. With track star receiver Nyck Harbor, 6'5" and 4.3, boosting his stock even more, you'll wanna get in early on this fast-streaming comet.
